Four-star recruit Shy Hawkins has committed to Syracuse women’s basketball, according to an announcement made Wednesday on SportsCenter NEXT’s social media.
Hawkins, a 6-foot wing, is espnW’s No. 72 ranked prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. She is set to join fellow wing Keira Scott (No. 97) as the only other top 100 SU commit in the class so far.
Hawkins is heading into her senior season at Long Island Lutheran High School (NY). Early in her junior season, she helped the Crusaders win the 2022 Long Island Nike Tournament of Champions, its first in program history. That same year, Long Island Lutheran was at one point ranked No. 1 in the country and finished the season as 2023 New York State Federation Class AA champions.
Hawkins has also competed on the Nike Girls Elite Youth Basketball League circuit for Exodus NYC. There, Hawkins played alongside five-star Notre Dame commit Kate Koval — who also played at Long Island Lutheran High School. Hawkins and Koval led Exodus NYC to a 2023 17U EYBL spring Championship last season.
