Ahead of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship game between Florida State and Louisville, the conference released its selections for its All-ACC Football Teams. FSU led all schools with 17 selections, while five Syracuse players earned All-ACC honors or honorable mentions. While no SU player made the first team, LeQuint Allen Jr. was named the Second-Team All-ACC running back alongside Florida State’s Trey Benson. Linebacker Marlowe Wax earned Second-Team honors as well.
Allen Jr. finished with 1,062 rushing yards on 225 attempts, rushing for nine touchdowns in his first season as the Orange’s starting running back. He also had 36 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown this season. Allen Jr. surpassed 100 rushing yards in seven of the 12 regular season games he played in. He was also named an all purpose honorable mention, as he saw time as a punt and kick returner for the Orange.
Wax, who may declare for the NFL draft, finished the season with 101 total tackles, 65 of which were solo tackles. Wax also nabbed four sacks, including two against Virginia Tech, forced four fumbles and had one interception against Purdue.
Punter Jack Stonehouse was named to the Third-Team All-ACC specialists group in his first season as the team’s punter.
Sixth-year left guard Chris Bleich and senior rover Justin Barron were also named as All-ACC honorable mentions. Barron had 83 total tackles, 45 of which were solo, with 0.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception against Army in what could be his final season with Syracuse.
