Syracuse’s Jeorgio Kocevski and Lorenzo Boselli have each earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference awards, the conference announced Wednesday. Kocevski was named co-ACC Midfielder of the Year, sharing the honor with Virginia’s Mouhameth Thiam. It’s the first time a Syracuse player has won the award. Kocevski also made the All-ACC First Team, while Boselli earned Third Team honors.
Kocevksi has started all 18 games for the Orange this season, registering a career-high 11 assists. He’s tied with former Syracuse player Marcelo Vitale for the most assists by a senior in program history. The midfielder leads the ACC in assists and is tied for third-most in the country. In a 5-3 loss against Duke on Sept. 29, Kocevski set up all three of SU’s goals.
Kocevski has been an integral part of Syracuse’s midfield this season. He was one of the only returners in the starting lineup from SU’s 2022 national championship-winning side. In the offseason, Kocevski spent time with the Long Island Rough Riders in USL 2, winning the club’s Player of the Year award along with making the USL 2 First Team. Kocevski’s link-up play in the final third has enhanced the Orange’s attack, leading to a five-goal outburst against NC State in the first round of the ACC tournament.
Boselli, Syracuse’s leading goal scorer (six), earned All-ACC third team honors. Boselli started the season hot, scoring three goals in his first two games, finding pockets of space in the box and getting on the end of crosses. But recently, Boselli has scored just one goal in his last nine games. Boselli was benched against Yale on Oct. 18 and NC State on Oct. 22, though he has since returned to the starting lineup.
Boselli registered three shots on target against Virginia in the ACC quarterfinals. Although he didn’t find the back of the net, the attacker set up Syracuse midfielder Mateo Leveque in the 84th minute to tie the game 1-1. SU eventually went on to win in penalties.
