I read about the unfortunate bicycle accident on College Place on Tuesday. The article stated “there was no sign of a helmet.” As both a bicyclist and a car driver in the university neighborhood, I am disturbed by the lack of attention to safety. Fewer than half the students I see wear helmets or have adequate lights. Maybe Syracuse University should subsidize these safety accessories in the same way it provides low-cost bicycle locks. Please be careful and be safe.
