Justyn Knight and Jessie Petersen’s top finishes highlighted Syracuse’s weekend at the Virginia Challenge.
Knight made his track debut for Syracuse in the 1500-meter. He finished first with a time of 3:39.66, breaking the school record that had stood since 1972. Joel Hubbard (3:44.75) took eleventh in the event.
Petersen won the 10k with a time of 34:18.63, while Kevyn Hoyos led the men with a time of 29:38.69. Max Straneva (29:45.85) finished ninth.
At the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational, Shaylyn Tuite, took tenth in the 5k with a time of 16:54.73 while Rebecca Skodis (16.57.25) finished 13th.
Sydney Leiher led the Orange in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, grabbing tenth with a time of 10:33.03.
The Orange will next participate in the Penn Relays, beginning on Wednesday.
